Farrell, Winston

Winston Farrell is a Barbadian award winning poet and playwright. A Leeds graduate with a Masters in Theatre and Development studies, Farrell is a practicing stage director and drama facilitator specializing in popular theatre methodology. Farrell's has been published in journals such as, Race Today, Crossing Water by the Greenfield Press NY, Kyk-over-al, Caribbean Writer, Poui among other. A Frank Collymore Literary Endowment winner, he has also gain Gold Medals for his poems in the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) over the years and was the recipient of the Governor General's award for excellence for Literary Arts in 2015. in addition to his published collections, he has also released recordings of his rhythm poems, 'Lion on the Loose' and 'Earth Spirit' on which the popular 'Bus-man' is featured along with recent tracks, 'i am standing up' and 'Reach for the sky'. Farrell has had several Artist/writer in residence programmes with Hudson Valley Writer Guild and the University of Albany NY, Jefferson Community College and the University of Louisville, Kentucky as well as a British Council Visitorship.
