Rachelle J. Gray is an Afro-Barbadian American creative. A graduate of State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo State, she has charted an unbeaten path as a communications specialist, photographer and creative consultant between the USA; Barbados, in the Caribbean; and Senegal, West Africa─ a long way from her starting point as a contributing writer for @BuffaloState, the faculty and staff newsletter of her alma mater.

Beyond New York, Rachelle distinguished herself as a photojournalist at Barbados’ leading newspaper, the Nation, where her work dominated the pages of the Easy Magazine, a Sunday lifestyle publication. At the height of its operation, she was chosen to work as a feature writer for Island Life magazine. Her work has been published in Islander, the inflight magazine of the oldest Caribbean airline, LIAT and served as Editor-in-Chief of BimROCK, an interactive publication about life in Barbados, its food, music, fashion, culture, and entertainment.

Driven by her adventurous spirit, Rachelle plunged head-on into entrepreneurship, establishing her own multimedia agency, GrayWorks Media in 2003. Passionate about giving life, voice and creative direction to her clients’ vision, her client portfolio has grown to span the public sector, non-governmental organizations, the telecommunications and entertainment sectors.  Rachelle is a mother of one.

She's passionate about gardening, dance, travel, and learning new languages. Kingstown Burning is her first novel.
