Performance Poetry

Cyndi Celeste is a spoken word poet, writer, and creative entrepreneur based in Barbados. She is an arts activist and language advocate using performance poetry and literature to encourage social discourse on issues of identity.

Cyndi is a NIFCA award-winning poet who has represented Barbados on international stages including the 2019 Vrystaat Arts Festival in South Africa, the 2021 Women of the World Poetry Slam in Texas, and the 2023 Marché de la Poésie in France. She was also a resident of the U.S State Department’s Next Level Global Hip Hop and Cultural Diplomacy programme in September 2022. 

Her work is published in the NIFCA Winning Words Anthology, the Caribbean Writer Literary Journal, and the Harvard Women in Business Insight magazine. Cyndi has co-ordinated several community outreach projects in Barbados including a monthly youth-centred open mic night called Poetry Lime, after-school arts advocacy workshops, and community artist development workshops.
