So.... what was the most important takeaway from today's session?
For me it is the fact that although erotica may have many varied definitions, we all agree that its goal is to evoke sensuality. Also, no matter what we are writing, the craft is paramount.
What do you think?
I agree .. the craft is important. For my 2c, I like the focus on characterisation and literary devices. I always sy that I need my readers to experience the world I'm writing through the senses of my characters. That makes them more 'lifelike'. They feel like real people. I noted the focus on outlining, which I didn't get to ask about. I am more a 'pantser', so I'm wondering how do I outline a book to a specific genre ... I get a little overwhelmed by things like the 'Bell the Cat' and the different 'story beats' that people say a story should have.

I was definitely interested in the topic as an erotic writer myself, and a past student of Wayne Jordan's as well. This was a comprehensive workshop that gave me not only food for thought - but a working blurb for a sequel to one of my previously published books that I've been sitting on! I learned a lot and was - as I always am - extremely happy to take the time to be a part of the Writer's Clinic.
Great job everyone!
