March's read - Love by Abayomi Marshall

First a murmur

Then a flutter

Then like an eagle taking wings, a majestic flap

The world wanes thin and the lights of stars kiss your face

Then a gush of hot air that takes you even to the moon

A blessed flight, a sacred high

Then a slight drop

Then the fateful plummet

The moon forsakes you

The stars bite at your heels

The world spins dizzily, jowls agape to receive your soul

Eagle to millstone, wings to chains

Mutter to anguish

Flutter to scream

Cacophony of symphonies

Discord of overtures

Dissonance of sonatas

A great sound of thunder and slamming doors

Then silence

Then an abundance of nothing

Then spread-eagled and slayed on the rocks

Then split at the seams

Then opened like a book

Then read

Then broken

Then bruised

Then shattered

Then torn

Then empty

Then everything

Then nothing

Then blood

Then silence

Then noise

Then hot

Then cold

Then eternal

Then finite

Then used

Then spent

Then in unison

Then complete

Then dead

Then a murmur

This is a real plunge. Striking imagery that uplifts, then assaults and batters the emotions.
